„As one of the first users of video remote interpreting in the course of the pilot project ‘Video remote interpreting in the health department of the penal facility Vienna-Josefstadt,’ the quality of the system has provided the entire team of physicians with benefits. It is not only that adequate translation is ensured within a short time period and that patients can be examined without any complications, but our workflow has also been accelerated significantly by this tool as a result of no longer needing to hire on-site interpreters and the associated cost and time disadvantages. With this service, standardized anamnesis and the examination of patients without any language barriers has been accomplished. Video remote interpreting is being used for inpatient care as well as outpatient care and it is an indispensable method considering that there are more than 60 ethnicities in our facility.”Mag. Claudia Mika, department for enforcement and support in enforcement of sentences
The Austrian federal government is responsible for the enforcement of sentences or orders. The Federal Ministry of Justice is the supreme enforcement authority and as such it is responsible for strategically planning, managing, as well as controlling the enforcement of sentences and orders. A special department for the penal system provides necessary support and advice to the Federal Minister of Justice.
Video remote interpreting is intended to reduce workloads and to facilitate and simplify communication with non-German speakers. Moreover, its use is intended to avoid possible legal risks during medical treatment.
